Space Description

The Hermitage Amsterdam wants to draw upon art and history to inspire, enrich, and offer the opportunity for reflection. By way of our exhibitions and activities, we present world heritage from the collections of various museums in innovative ways. First of all, we host a major art exhibition with items from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg for the Dutch and international public twice a year. With over 3.5 million items, the State Hermitage in St. Petersburg is one of the biggest museums in the world.
We also house collections from other museums like the Amsterdam Museum, the Rijksmuseum (the exhibition Portrait Gallery of the Golden Age), and Het Dolhuys museum (the Outsider Art Museum). In addition, the Hermitage Amsterdam provides spaces for smaller exhibitions, such as the annual winner of the ABN AMRO Art Award.
We are proud to do business in a sustainable way, to share our facilities, to collaborate, and to fund our own activities – with support from businesses and private individuals.
In our opinion, it is essential to cultivate talent. The Hermitage for Children provides art education on a continuous basis that allows children to discover their own artistic abilities.
